After waiting for a letter from Toyota for two weeks now, I didn’t get any.
Our Toyota Matrix 2009 (Corolla) I discovered was really included in Toyota’s recalls. So far, the car is in excellent condition and I don’t have any complaints about the Matrix. Just the same, for my peace of mind, I called the closest Toyota dealer here in Weatherford located in Hudson Oaks, some 15 minute drive via I-20 freeway.
Toyota cars’ VINs starting with J (ie: Japan) are not included in the recalls. And our Matrix starts with a 2T. (If not J, it means that it is either manufactured in the US or somewhere else) Because of this, I called David Carlson of Toyota, Hudson Oaks about the Matrix. He confirmed that the car is a recall. Without the letter he advised me to bring in the Matrix at 2:30PM, the only slot available yesterday. To my surprise, he called me again to come over if I could make it in 15 minutes to which I eagerly agreed.
To cut the story short, the gas pedal spare part installation and software configuration took only a little bit more than an hour to get the job done. Together with some Motorola celfone images, I have included in the photo album Toyota’s report for this recall’s procedure together with a notice regarding floor mats to avoid sticking gas pedals. (was there long before Toyota recalls)
My special thanks to David Carlson and Toyota for the peace of mind we deserve to get for the 5 hour drive to South Houston this coming week.
Houston, here we come!
